Dear Ms Scott,
I have received an email from your lawyer Ms Luna in which questions are posed which I will reply to here to you so that you can pass them on to Ms Luna.

As far as I know the British consular services abroad do not transact business for the Civil Registry. This implies such business must be done in British territory before the relevant civil authorities. For that reason it is logical that it is the British Embassy or Consulate in Bogotá which gives the corresponding visa for the child so that the child can be registered as your child in the British Civil Registry, if the law allows this.

Ms Luna asked whether it was possible to obtain a visa for family unification. The answer is negative, given that the this case is not covered by existing normative for the issue of these visas.

With regard to the question of a document from the British authorities certifying that the adoption will be registered, this would serve for those countries whose consulates in Spain can register international adoptions and other Civil Registry material. This not being the British case, I am afraid that the only solutions is that you with the child go to London and resolve before the authorities there the registering of the child as your child.
Yours sincerely,
Miguel Oliveros
